It’s always nice to get away and travel to a favourite destination or try out a place you’ve never been to, and Geraldton should be one of the places on your travel list. No matter where you are in the world, Geraldton is easy to reach, thanks to the proximity to Perth, Western Australia’s capital. Once you land at the airport, transportation to the town is easy to find thanks to the many taxi services, coach lines or car rental options.
There are two airlines to choose from when flying into Geraldton: Quantas and Skywest. Skywest does round trips to Geraldton from many cities, including Perth. Quantas also flies to Geraldton from Perth and this airline offers flights from around the world to Australia, where you can then find additional flights or transportation to Geraldton. Once you land in Perth, you have a choice of catching a connecting flight, or taking the scenic route and driving back via coach line.
Transwa and Greyhound coach lines have four itineraries from which to choose between the two companies, and the drive usually takes six hours, along the scenic landscape of Western Australia. If you are going by car, the driving time can vary depending on the route you plan to take – as well as on traffic conditions, weather or road conditions. If you want to catch the breathtaking scenery of the Indian Ocean while on your trip to Geraldton, the Indian Ocean Drive is the way to go. Inland routes, including the Three Springs or Perenjori are great options if you want to check out the wildflowers blooming throughout the winter months.
Once you are in Geraldton, there are plenty of car rental options to make use of while visiting. Avis, Hertz, Budget, Thrifty and Highway Auto Barn all have a selection to accommodate your budget needs. If you don’t want to rent a car, a taxi is a sufficient way to get around. Many hotels are within walking distance to the beach and downtown, so you likely don’t need to purchase any additional transportation. Spend time walking around the many shops to find the perfect souvenir to take back home, or walk from the beach to your hotel each day to wash away the stress.
Plenty of restaurants are centrally located in downtown, so you have your pick of cuisine each day. If you ever need transportation to the area attractions, your hotel can help you make the reservation.
